About Bethel, Alaska:The City of Bethel is located approximately 90 inland Miles from the Bering Sea and approximately 400 air miles of west Anchorage, Alaska. Bethel has a population of approximately 6000 people and serves as the hub for 56 surrounding Natives villages. Bethel population is mainly made up of Yup’ik / Cup’ik Eskimos, Italians, Caucasians, Koreans, Mexican and African Americans. Excluding Bethel, 94% of the 56 surrounding village’s population is Alaska Natives. Bethel is land-locked from the urban areas in Alaska. Do to its land-locked location; river travel is the primary means of local transportation in the summer. During the winter month the river becomes an l50-mile ice roads that connect Bethel to many of the surrounding villages. Bethel is one of the best kept secrets in Alaska. Its beautiful scenery, abundances of fish, variety of wildlife and friendly people makes Bethel a wonderful place to live and raise a family.
